The Healer\u2019s Art course, designed by Dr. Rachel Naomi Remen MD, http:\/\/www.rishiprograms.org\/healers-art\/, will be offered in two formats this year, safe distanced-in person or virtually. Starting January and February 2021, this 15-hour elective will be taught in five evening sessions. This course brings together two mutually supportive learning communities \u2013 1st<\/sup> and 2nd<\/sup> year medical students with practicing, academic physicians.\u00a0 This model encourages honest and respectful sharing of experiences and personal truths. Faculty members facilitate, sharing their personal insights along with students. Faculty members this year: Drs. Sue Slatkoff, Amy Weil, Beth Rosenberg, Dana Iglesias, Gayle Thomas, Jen Martini, Jennifer Howell, Jessica Barnhill, Julia Lunsford, Sarah Dotters-Katz, Sarah Ruff, and Tracey Deselm.<\/em><\/p>\n

Students who wish to be part of the Healer\u2019s Art Course at UNC should contact Jenny Jones, course administrator, jnjones@email.unc.edu and\/or Dr. Sue Slatkoff at slatkoff@med.unc.edu<\/a> to secure a place in the 2021 course. Please include your class (e.g. MS1) as well as your preference to take the course in person (limited availability) or via zoom.\u00a0Students will be accepted on a first come, first accepted basis.
