Purchasing Card Policy
Purchasing Cards (or pCards as they are commonly called) are a wonderful tool that allows departments to quickly respond to user needs for supplies and other items. There is, however, opportunity for fraudulent usage of this tool. As a result, both University and SOM guidelines are applicable.
The UNC pCard handbook should be carefully read by all managers and pCard users; the manager and user are responsible for adherence to these policies. Pay particular attention to the restriction on usage.
SOM policies on pCard usage are in addition to UNC policies. These policies have been developed as an added layer of protection against fraud and abuse. Per the Dean’s directive, SOM departments that are not in adherence with these policies will have their pCards canceled by FBO. Please read the following policies carefully; it is suggested that the policies be printed and shared with all staff and faculty in the departments.
