DESCRIPTION:Join us on Feb. 17 from 12-3pm at the Emily K Center in Durham. We will be tabling and handing out educational materials about genetic screening to anyone drops by! \nThere will also be many other wonderful community resource organizations from across the Triangle\, food trucks\, performances\, and the chance to learn more about the legacy of historically black colleges and universities in our region. SUMMARY:ABGS at Hispanic Heritage Fiesta 2023 on September 16th
DESCRIPTION:Members of the Age-Based Genomic Screening project are excited to be volunteering at the 10th Annual Hispanic Heritage Fiesta 2023 in Siler City. This celebration is hosted by the Hispanic Liaison (El Vínculo Hispano)\, an organization focused on addressing the unique needs of the growing Hispanic population in North Carolina. In this event\, we will be assisting with the set-up and logistics of the dances\, food\, activities\, and other exhibits present at the festival highlighting the richness of the Latine community in the Triangle. \nConnect with us and learn more about ways that you can get involved with our project by meeting us at 200 N. Chatham Ave\, Siler City\, NC on Sept. 16th from 12pm-6pm! We are excited for this chance to meet more members of our community to further our focus on equity and inclusion of all in genetics research.

SUMMARY:ABGS at FIESTA! 2023 Street Fest on September 9th
DESCRIPTION:ABGS will be present at FIESTA! 2023 in downtown Winston-Salem\, NC. This festival\, hosted by the Hispanic League and Truist\, is the largest street festival in the Triad\, with over 20\,000 people projected in attendance. There will be many performances\, food vendors\, and activities for attendees to participate in and see the diversity of Hispanic cultures in NC and beyond.  \nWe are excited to connect with people from a vast array of Latine and Hispanic backgrounds to learn their experiences with healthcare\, genomics\, and health equity. At this event\, our organization will be tabling alongside other community health and non-profit partners. Please drop by our table at the Truist Stadium in Winston-Salem\, NC\, on Sept. 9th from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. to learn about DNA\, play some games\, and learn more about our cause.

SUMMARY:ABGS at UnityWalk 2023 on August 26th
DESCRIPTION:We will be attending UnityWalk 2023 in Greensboro\, NC. This event is hosted by the Faith Action Organization\, New Arrivals Institute\, North Carolina African Services Coalition\, and more groups within the Greensboro Area focused on refugee and immigrant resettlement and holistic support. The Unity Walk and Festival is held annually in celebration of the diversity of this community and the continued fight for immigrant rights.  \nWe will be tabling alongside other community groups and health organizations at this event to engage in educational and community outreach about genetics and genomics for public health care. We are excited to work with this vibrant community of culture and learn about everyone’s opinions on genetic healthcare and other pressing issues. Join us in LeBauer Park in downtown Greensboro\, NC on Aug. 26th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to participate in the walk\, watch performances\, and connect with us at our table!
