{"id":2251,"date":"2023-07-17T16:31:53","date_gmt":"2023-07-17T20:31:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/genetics\/abgs\/?page_id=2251"},"modified":"2025-04-15T15:47:09","modified_gmt":"2025-04-15T19:47:09","slug":"about-us","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/genetics\/abgs\/about-us\/","title":{"rendered":"About Us"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em><p class=\"lead\">Genomic sequencing<\/em><\/strong> offers an unprecedented opportunity to detect inherited variants that are implicated in rare Mendelian disorders, yet there are many challenges to overcome before this technology can routinely be applied in a healthy population.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong><p class=\"lead\">The Age-Based Genomic Screening (ABGS)<\/strong><\/em> study is led by a team of researchers at UNC Chapel Hill investigating a novel alternative to genome-scale sequencing at birth.
