Kathleen Wallace graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2013 with a B.A. in Biology with Honors. Her undergraduate research in the lab of Dr. Jeff Sekelsky culminated in a thesis investigating the ability of the Drosophila Holliday junction resolvase GEN to dimerize in solution. Kathleen also participated in undergraduate research project in Dr. Karin Pfennig’s lab examining sperm competition in insects through a Drosophila model. After graduation, Kathleen’s interests shifted into the realm of medical genetics. She is currently a research technician in the Berg lab and is involved in biocuration for both the NC NEXUS and ClinGen projects. Outside of lab, Kathleen enjoys many hobbies, volunteering at animal sanctuaries and caring for her two spoiled house rabbits.
