She was part of the UNCW Swimming and Diving Team.<\/p>\n<p>While at UNCW she did a broad range of undergraduate research. This includes research in Dr. Rhodes\u2019 lab on the survival of the bacteria\u00a0<em>Borrelia burgdorferi<\/em>\u00a0in the absence of it\u2019s essential nutrient n-acetylglucosamine. Liz also did epidemiological research with Dr. Woditschka on the effect of switching from smoking to vaping on sleep disturbances and studied the structure of snail brains in Dr. Satterlie\u2019s lab. During the summer as an undergraduate, she completed an internship at Tufts Medical Center assisting Dr. Gaston in research on cell lipid metabolism in aggressive prostate cancer.<\/p>\n<p>Liz is currently working in the Berg lab as a research assistant for ClinGen, assisting with coordination and biocuration. She also works in the UNC Adult and Cancer Genetics clinic assisting Genetic Counselors.
