My research asks how genetic variation modifies individual susceptibility to prenatal alcohol exposure that alters brain development, with the goal of understanding why fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD) affect some children more severely than others. I use iPSC-derived cortical organoids from genetically diverse participants, combined with single-cell RNA sequencing and eQTL analysis, to identify cell-type-specific gene-by-environment effects. This approach draws on a large-scale iPSC panel developed through the IBIS Network.
