{"id":2478,"date":"2025-03-21T09:09:16","date_gmt":"2025-03-21T13:09:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/genetics\/raffieldlab\/?p=2478"},"modified":"2025-03-21T09:10:17","modified_gmt":"2025-03-21T13:10:17","slug":"micah-hysong-published-paper-in-blood-advances","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/genetics\/raffieldlab\/2025\/03\/micah-hysong-published-paper-in-blood-advances\/","title":{"rendered":"Micah Hysong published paper in Blood Advances"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With colleagues, Raffield lab graduate student Micah Hysong recently published a paper in <em>Blood Advances<\/em> \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/39825822\/\"><em>Characterization of the phenotypic consequences of the Duffy-null genotype<\/em><\/a>.\u201d This paper conducts a phenome-wide association study of Duffy-null status across &gt;1400 clinical conditions in All of Us, the Vanderbilt University Medical Center&#8217;s Biobank, and the Million Veteran Program. This PheWAS revealed that Duffy-null status is only reproducibly associated with changes in white blood cell count and not with any disease outcomes.
