
Dr. Phillip Richmond has been appointed Associate Professor in the Department of Genetics, effective June 15, 2026.
Dr. Richmond earned his BA in Molecular, Cellular, & Developmental Biology in 2012 from the University of Colorado-Boulder and his PhD in Bioinformatics in 2020 from the University of British Columbia. He was employed as a Staff Scientist for the Precision Health Initiative at the BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute (2020-2023). In 2022, Dr. Richmond was appointed as the Chief Scientific Officer at Alamya Health, PBC, where he focused on the development of bioinformatic pipelines and analytical tools, product development, grant writing, collaborator engagement, and team leadership. He will serve as the Associate Director of Bioinformatics for the Translational and Integrative Sciences Lab (TIS Lab), led by Dr. Melissa Haendel.
