{"id":5995,"date":"2018-07-20T22:47:52","date_gmt":"2018-07-21T02:47:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/genetics\/?p=5995"},"modified":"2018-07-26T13:16:50","modified_gmt":"2018-07-26T17:16:50","slug":"samir-kelada-phd-mph-promoted-to-associate-professor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/genetics\/samir-kelada-phd-mph-promoted-to-associate-professor\/","title":{"rendered":"Samir Kelada, PhD, MPH,  Promoted to Associate Professor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"lead\">Congratulations to Dr. Samir Kelada who has been promoted to Associate Professor in the Department of Genetics, effective 9\/1\/18.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-5996 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/genetics\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/481\/2018\/07\/samir-kelada-188x250.jpg\" alt=\"Samir Kelada\" width=\"188\" height=\"250\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Samir joined the department in 2012.\u00a0 He earned his MPH from University of Michigan in 2002 and his PhD from University of Washington in 2006, followed by a post-doctoral fellowship in the laboratory of Francis Collins at NIH.\u00a0 He was recognized in 2015 as an NIEHS Outstanding New Environmental Scientist.\u00a0 Samir is a member of the Marsico Lung Institute and an active faculty member in the BCB, GMB and Toxicology curricula. His laboratory is interested in identifying and characterizing the contributions of genetics, environmental exposures, and their interactions in airway diseases.\u00a0 Please join us in congratulating
