Department of Genetics <a href=\"http:\/\/news.unchealthcare.org\/news\/2020\/february\/unc-school-of-medicine-nih-funding-jumps-more-than-23-million-in-federal-fy-2019\">was ranked first in NIH funding<\/a> among Genetics departments in public schools of medicine for 2019, according to a new report by the Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research.<\/p>\n<p>Overall, the Department of Genetics was ranked 6<sup>th<\/sup> in NIH funding among all universities.\u00a0 All six basic science departments in the School of Medicine were ranked in the top 10 for NIH funding, while 12 clinical departments ranked in the top 30.\u00a0 The School of Medicine was ranked 17<sup>th<\/sup> in the country in total NIH funding and 6<sup>th<\/sup> among peer universities.\u00a0 Congratulations to
