Since the 1950s, UNC Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology has trained more than 200 fellows to become outstanding clinical gastroenterologists and hepatologists, researchers, educators, and leaders. We offer three core fellowship training programs and three advanced training programs in an inclusive and supportive environment.

Why Choose UNC for GI Fellowship?

UNC is among the nation’s top schools of medicine and public health. Here, fellows train in a uniquely collegial atmosphere and learn from faculty members widely recognized for outstanding clinical care, research, teaching, and leadership. Additionally, Chapel Hill is ranked one of the nation’s top places to live and raise kids. Upon graduation, our fellows are well equipped for successful careers in academia, clinical practice, and industry.

Core Fellowship Training Programs

Our 3-year clinical track prepares trainees for careers in clinical and academic practice as clinician educators. Our two NIH T32 training programs add formalized training and mentorship for those aspiring academic careers as clinical outcomes or basic science researchers.
