Dr. Arsene has interest in basic science research predominantly studying the regulatory mechanisms by which oxidative stress leads to alcoholic liver injury.  Her basic science interest also lies in the realm of IBD with opportunities to bridge molecular mechanisms to a better understanding of the pathophysiology of the disease and translating this to patient care.

Her academic focus includes translational research in the areas of alcoholic hepatitis and liver transplantation, as well as host-pathogen relationships in inflammatory bowel disease and obesity.
