Clinical InterestsMy clinical practice focuses on the spectrum of esophageal diseases and disorders.  Under the auspices of UNC's Center for Esophageal Diseases and Swallowing, I primarily see patients with refractory GERD symptoms (heartburn, chest pain, and regurgitation), dysphagia, motor and sensory esophageal disorders, eosinophilic esophagitis, and Barrett's esophagus.  My endoscopic practice focuses on diagnostic and therapeutic esophageal endoscopy, including complex esophageal dilations and ablation of Barrett's esophagus.  I interpret all of the esophageal motility & reflux tests at UNC Hospital.

Academic Interests: y clinical research interests focus on esophageal diseases, primarily on diagnosis and management of patients with refractory GERD symptoms, in addition to working as a co-investigator with the other faculty members in the Center for Esophageal Diseases and Swallowing.  I am also researching innovative assessment methods in gastroenterology training and exploring the role of technology and social media in all phases of medical education, training and practice.
