General Gastroenterology Clinic

About the General Gastroenterology Clinic

We provide expert consultations and ongoing care for patients with a full spectrum of acute and chronic gastrointestinal conditions, from the simple to the complex. Over 17,000 visits are made annually, with 100 – 150 new patient visits each month. Among those treated in our clinic, 95% are very satisfied and 96% would recommend us to a friend. Ongoing programs aim to continuously improve quality of care and patient experience across clinical programs.

Available Services

We provide care for patients with a range of gastrointestinal conditions, including pancreatic and biliary diseases. This includes one-time consultations as well as ongoing care. We are committed to building close relationships with our physician colleagues from within and outside the UNC system.

How to refer a patient

Simply fax a completed consult request form (available here) to 919-966-3414. Upon receipt, all referrals are reviewed and triaged by a faculty gastroenterologist. When appropriate, patients may be re-routed to one of our specialty clinics (esophageal, functional GI, IBD, or hepatology). We do not accept referrals directly from emergency departments.
