{"id":9257,"date":"2024-04-04T13:02:04","date_gmt":"2024-04-04T17:02:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/gmb\/?post_type=ud_entry&#038;p=9257"},"modified":"2024-04-22T09:28:40","modified_gmt":"2024-04-22T13:28:40","slug":"jesse-raab-phd","status":"publish","type":"ud_entry","link":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/gmb\/people\/jesse-raab-phd\/","title":{"rendered":"Jesse Raab, PhD"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>My Research<\/h2>\n<p>We study how chromatin mediated gene regulation is controlled and how disruption of chromatin contributes to cancer and other diseases<\/p>\n<p>Chromatin disruption in liver cancer<br \/>\nChromatin regulators are among the most frequent mutations in hepatocellular carcinoma and cholangiocarcinoma. We are interested in how disruption of normal chromatin regulation gives rise to these tumors. We are also looking for new therapeutic strategies targeting the epignome. We use high throughput CRISPR screens to uncover new therapeutic avenues.<\/p>\n<p>Gene Regulation<br \/>\nHow is composition and assembly of chromatin remodeling complexes regulated? Chromatin remodelers are large multi-subunit complexes that can be assembled in a variety of ways. We use genome-wide approaches to understand how these complexes find their targets in the genome, what they do when the get there, and how remodeling complex assembly is regulated.
