Students may <strong>apply<\/strong> to the CLS program before the prerequisite courses are complete, provided they will complete them prior to the <strong>start<\/strong> of the CLS program. (UNC course numbers are in parentheses. Transfer course equivalency is determined by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and requires a grade of C or better to receive credit. Applicants applying to enroll in Fall 2027 and beyond are required to have completed prerequisite courses within the previous 10 years to receive credit.)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>ONE advanced Math course (3 credit hours): Trigonometry &amp; Analytic Geometry (e.g., MATH 130) <strong>or <\/strong>Calculus I (e.g., MATH 231) <strong>or <\/strong>Statistics (e.g., STOR 151 or STOR 155)<\/li>\n<li>TWO Biology courses, plus a lab (7 credit hours total):\n<ul>\n<li>Introductory Biology with Lab (4 credits, e.g., BIOL 101 &amp; 101L) <strong>and<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>one additional (3 credit) biology course &#8211; <em>a course covering f<\/em><i>undamental concepts in genetics, molecular biology, and cellular biology (e.g., BIOL 103)<\/i><i> is recommended<\/i><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>THREE Chemistry courses, plus labs (12 credit hours total):\n<ul>\n<li>General Descriptive Chemistry I with Lab (4 credits, e.g., CHEM 101 &amp; 101L) <strong>and<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>General Descriptive Chemistry II with Lab (4 credits, e.g., CHEM 102 &amp; 102L) <strong>and<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Analytical Chemistry with Lab (4 credits, e.g., CHEM 241 &amp; 241L) <strong>or <\/strong>Organic Chemistry I with Lab (4 credits, e.g., CHEM 261 &amp; 241L*)<i><br \/>\n*Note that Chem 241 or 241H is a prerequisite or corequisite for Chem 241L<\/i><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All students seeking a first bachelor&#8217;s degree from UNC must also complete the UNC-CH general college requirements. These courses are usually taken prior to entering the CLS program. Please note: Starting in fall 2025, all new UNC students must take at least one course on the foundations of American democracy.
