Many undergraduate colleges and universities across the U.S. had to make changes to courses and grading for spring 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Those changes may have included moving to Pass\/Fail grading<\/strong> rather than letter grades. For applicants to our MSOT program, we will accept Pass\/Fail grades for prerequisite courses that were taken in the spring of 2020.<\/p>\n There are\u00a0eight\u00a0total prerequisite courses.\u00a0Four\u00a0of these are fixed (core body of knowledge).\u00a0Three\u00a0are in categories that allow flexibility in the specific coursework that satisfies the prerequisite (flexible prerequisites). These\u00a0seven courses may be taken at accredited universities, colleges or community colleges. Online courses will be accepted from nationally accredited institutions if the course credit is equivalent to that of a typical on-site course. The\u00a0final\u00a0prerequisite is an occupation course, which does not have to be taken for credit, but must meet specific criteria.<\/p>\n The four fixed prerequisites and the three flexible prerequisites MUST have been taken within five years prior to application to the program. The only potential exceptions are for those who work in fields focused on a specific area AND who have taken the coursework in the past (for example, mental health professionals may not have to retake abnormal psychology). These applicants may be eligible for a waiver of courses taken prior to the 5-year limit; waiver requests can be submitted using the form linked here<\/a>. The MSOT program does not accept transfer credits from other OT or OT Assistant programs, nor is advanced placement an option.
