It was\u00a0established in 2011 in honor and memory of Marlys Mitchell, PhD, the founder of the master\u2019s program in occupational therapy at the UNC School of Medicine. Symposium scholars deliver a public lecture and participate in talks, discussions, and meetings with faculty, students, and researchers. The symposium is made possible through generous gifts from friends and alumni, past and present faculty of the division.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">\u201cI\u2019ve had some lively discussions today with students and faculty members, and I\u2019m really excited about the work you\u2019re doing,\u201d Kinsella\u00a0reported. \u201cYour division [\u2026] has a reputation for producing exceptional graduates.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Throughout the symposium, Kinsella\u00a0focused on the meaning of embodiment and\u00a0how consideration of its role in clinical practice affects the\u00a0application\u00a0of practical wisdom in health and social care. Kinsella, who worked for nine years as an occupational therapist,\u00a0reported that\u00a0many questions and lines of inquiry are rooted in practice experience.\u00a0She hoped that the symposium would spark a new dialogue about theories of embodiment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Nancy Bagatell, PhD, OTR\/L, division director, said Kinsella\u2019s visit prompted conversations among students of occupational therapy and occupational science.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">\u201cThe division is grateful for the support that made tonight possible,\u201d Bagatell said. \u201cIt has been a transformative and enriching experience for our students.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Kinsella has published more than 60 peer-reviewed journal articles and 20 book chapters related to the following topics: everyday occupations in health and social care contexts;
