About University Physical Therapy

An isokinetic machine (pictured) is one of the many tools and techniques we use to optimize the rehabilitation of our patients.

University Physical Therapy (UPT) is entirely staffed by faculty members of UNC-Chapel Hill. Our faculty clinicians average over 15 years of clinical experience and look forward to serving you!

We are dedicated to excellent patient care, clinical research, and educating the next generation of physical therapists. We provide services that can help address problems with:

  • Strength and endurance
  • Flexibility and mobility
  • Chronic discomfort or pain that affects daily activities
  • Performance with work, recreational and sports activities
  • Custom foot orthotics
  • Balance assessments and fall prevention
  • Walking with or without an assistive device, including stairs

We accept Medicare and most major medical insurance but please check with your insurance provider for your specific physical therapy benefits. We also treat patients who are uninsured; we accept payment out pocket.

Outreach

Student Health Action Coalition (SHAC)

Students, supervised by faculty members, provide medical services for the uninsured through a cooperative effort of multidisciplinary students from medicine, pharmacy, public health, nursing, dentistry, social work, and information and library science.
