This collection of resources can be used to address the questions and conversations about inequality, racism, and exclusion that youth leaders may have. While Special Olympics Unified Champion Schools\u00ae is just one voice in an ocean of voices, it is our responsibility to foster this change and these conversations. The<span class=\"xxapple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/casel.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Preparing-Youth-for-the-Workforce-of-Tomorrow-Final.pdf\"><span style=\"color: #0563c1;\">report<\/span><\/a>,<span class=\"xxapple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><i>Preparing Youth for the Workforce of Tomorrow: Cultivating the Social and Emotional Skills Employers Demand<\/i>, emphasizes that<span class=\"xxapple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><b>state and local leaders should partner with businesses to create an<span class=\"xxapple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>integrated<span class=\"xxapple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>education-to-work pipeline<\/b><span class=\"xxapple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>that deeply embeds SEL into classrooms<span class=\"xxapple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>and<span class=\"xxapple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>workforce development to develop future-ready students.<span class=\"xxapple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"xxmsonormal\"><b><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; color: #00b050;\">State Support for SEL During COVID-19:<\/span><\/b><span class=\"xxapple-converted-space\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; color: #00b050;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; color: black;\">Based on survey data from state education agencies in 37 states and a scan of their COVID-19 response plans, we found:<span class=\"xxapple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><b>67%<\/b><span class=\"xxapple-converted-space\">\u00a0of\u00a0<\/span>state respondents identified SEL<span class=\"xxapple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>as a top priority,<span class=\"xxapple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><b>84%<\/b><span class=\"xxapple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>said SEL has<span class=\"xxapple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><b>increased in priority<\/b><span class=\"xxapple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>since the pandemic, and<span class=\"xxapple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><b>78%<\/b><span class=\"xxapple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>said<span class=\"xxapple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><b>district SEL requests<\/b><span class=\"xxapple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>had increased since COVID-19. The<span class=\"xxapple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/casel.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/State-Covid19-Response-CASEL-CFC.pdf\"><span style=\"color: #0563c1;\">report<\/span><\/a>,<span class=\"xxapple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><i>From Response to Reopening: State Efforts to Elevate Social and Emotional Learning During the Pandemic,<span class=\"xxapple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/i>co-published with Committee for Children,<span class=\"xxapple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>offers six policy recommendations<span class=\"xxapple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>for<span class=\"xxapple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>states to continue support for SEL as schools transition to the summer and prepare for the fall.
