At University Physical Therapy, we value the contributions of students at various stages of their academic preparation to become physical therapists. Our faculty clinicians bring coursework and evidence alive for our students and patients in clinic through quality patient care. Whether you are a student interested in volunteering or observing in one of our clinics or a recent graduate interested in completing one of our residency or fellowship programs, UPT provides a unique learning experience.

Education and Volunteering

Are you looking for an opportunity to increase your clinical knowledge to prepare for PT or OT school? Do you have time on your hands and an infinite desire to learn? University Physical Therapy has volunteer opportunities available via UNC Health Care’s Volunteer Service department.

Our UPT faculty clinicians contribute core teaching to the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at UNC. These efforts include preparation and presentation of hundreds of hours of lecture and laboratory content each year. Additionally, UPT is dedicated to the clinical education of PT students through:

  • Clinic observation time
  • Integrated Clinical Experience coursework
  • Clinical internships
  • Hosting residents and fellows from our orthopedic, neurologic, and sports post-graduate programs
