These programs are partnerships between the Division of Physical Therapy and UNC Hospitals and exist to provide superior, comprehensive specialist training to licensed physical therapists to meet the needs of North Carolina. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uncmedicalcenter.org\/uncmc\/professional-education-and-services\/rehabilitation-clinical-education\/residency-and-fellowship-program-policies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">All our residencies and fellowships follow these program policies.<\/a><\/p>\n<div id=\"content-area\">\n<div id=\"parent-fieldname-text-6b04e4a4e5ce44f8a5ca098f1be05567\" class=\"\">\n<h2>Residency and Fellowship Program Philosophy<\/h2>\n<p>The faculty of the Division of Physical Therapy is committed to developing residents who are recognized leaders within their specialty area of choice. Residents will develop excellence in examination, diagnosis, intervention, consultation, teaching and the integration of best evidence into the patient care they provide within their special area of interest. They will develop as a resource for the community in prevention and rehabilitation of orthopedic conditions and will contribute to the profession through teaching, writing and leadership. Graduates of the residency program will be fully prepared to sit for their specialty certification examination.<\/p>\n<h2>New Residency Sites in Partnership with Novant Health<\/h2>\n<p>The UNC School of Medicine Department of Health Sciences and UNCH Rehabilitation Services Residencies are pleased to partner with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.novanthealth.org\/locations\/medical-centers\/new-hanover-regional-medical-center\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, North Carolina.<\/a>\u00a0This physical therapist (PT) residency site is part of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.unc.edu\/posts\/2020\/11\/23\/novant-unchealth-school-of-medicine-announce-partner\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UNC and Novant Health affiliation<\/a>\u00a0and has been made possible through funding for residency expansion.
