Are you interested in becoming a clinical instructor?<\/p>\n<h3>Clinical Instructor Qualifications<\/h3>\n<p>We seek instructors who provide high-quality learning experiences for our students.\u00a0Clinical Instructors in our program meet the following qualifications:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Have at least one year of clinical experience.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrate proficiency in their area of clinical practice.<\/li>\n<li>Have a desire to provide educational learning experiences for students in the clinical environment.<\/li>\n<li>Have access to a patient caseload that allows appropriate exposure to support student learning.<\/li>\n<li>Are prepared to meet the responsibilities of clinical instructors as defined by the program.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Clinical Instructor Responsibilities<\/h3>\n<p>The Clinical Instructor (CI)\u00a0manages clinic responsibilities as well as the responsibilities of mentoring a student.<\/p>\n<h4>Prior to Rotation<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Review materials sent to the site about the student, including individuals goals and objectives for the clinical rotation<\/li>\n<li>Review materials about the UNC DPT program<\/li>\n<li>Consider planning in advance learning activities that may require additional lead-time, like observing other disciplines<\/li>\n<li>Complete Web CPI training<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>During the Rotation<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Offer regular informal feedback to the student, including affirmations and suggestions for areas of improvement.<\/li>\n<li>Communicate with the director of clinical education. At midterm of the rotation, communicate by phone to report on the student&#8217;s progress and clarify the academic program&#8217;s expectations.<\/li>\n<li>Provide written feedback at midterm and final using the Web CPI. Meet with the student to discuss your evaluation and compare observations with the student&#8217;s self-assessment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Following the Rotation<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Complete a review of the UNC curriculum and report about the student&#8217;s academic preparation for the clinical rotation.<\/li>\n<li>Provide feedback to the\u00a0director of clinical education regarding the clinical education process<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Clinical Instructor (CI)\u00a0manages clinic responsibilities as well as the responsibilities of mentoring a student.
