{"id":2883,"date":"2018-12-04T14:53:11","date_gmt":"2018-12-04T19:53:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/healthsciences\/radisci\/?p=2883"},"modified":"2018-12-05T13:17:36","modified_gmt":"2018-12-05T18:17:36","slug":"senior-ryan-monago-shares-his-passion-for-radiologic-science","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/healthsciences\/radisci\/2018\/12\/senior-ryan-monago-shares-his-passion-for-radiologic-science\/","title":{"rendered":"Senior Ryan Monago Shares His Passion for Radiologic Science"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\">\n<!-- iframe plugin v.5.2 wordpress.org\/plugins\/iframe\/ -->\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/xhyCDWytgW4\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" 0=\"allowfullscreen&gt;&lt;\/iframe\" scrolling=\"yes\" class=\"iframe-class\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"p2\">Senior Ryan Monago is a student in the Division of Radiologic Science in the Department of Allied Health Sciences who quickly found that the field of radiologic science aligned with his passion for science.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">&#8220;Once I looked around and found this program, I felt like this was a good fit for me,&#8221; Monago said. &#8220;I like the technology aspect of it, and I also like that we still get patient interaction and patient care.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Monago said face-to-face interaction with patients allows him to build a rapport with patients, which, in turn, makes his job easier.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">&#8220;There&#8217;s a lot of variety and a lot of clinical experience,&#8221; Monago said. &#8220;It&#8217;s a lot of hands-on-learning that we don&#8217;t really get from a classroom experience or other programs.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Monago said he finds pride in imaging and that the attention to detail he puts into his work in the lab makes a difference for health care teams to figure out next steps for each patient.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">&#8220;I feel lucky,&#8221; Monago said. &#8220;Hands-on health care learning and being in a clinical setting is the best way for me to learn what I need to know.
