{"id":2926,"date":"2019-03-01T11:58:55","date_gmt":"2019-03-01T16:58:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/healthsciences\/radisci\/?p=2926"},"modified":"2019-08-20T12:58:29","modified_gmt":"2019-08-20T16:58:29","slug":"first-generation-division-of-radiologic-science-student-addy-petatan-benitez-set-to-graduate-in-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/healthsciences\/radisci\/2019\/03\/first-generation-division-of-radiologic-science-student-addy-petatan-benitez-set-to-graduate-in-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"First-Generation Division of Radiologic Science Student Addy Petetan-Benitez Set to Graduate in 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center\">\n<!-- iframe plugin v.5.2 wordpress.org\/plugins\/iframe\/ -->\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/4FrtyQ8r5UA\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" 0=\"allowfullscreen&gt;&lt;\/iframe\" scrolling=\"yes\" class=\"iframe-class\"><\/iframe>\n\n<p>Addy Petetan-Benitez, a first-generation student and senior in the Division of Radiologic Science, is passionate about helping others and is taking advantage of her education to do so.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think radiologic science is very important to the health care system,\u201d Petetan-Benitez said. \u201cPeople think it\u2019s just a matter of pushing a button and that\u2019s it, but it takes so much more than that for us to get a good quality image.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Petetan-Benitez explained how radiologic science is like a domino effect in the health care system because a radiologist needs advanced imagery to diagnose a patient properly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI feel really proud, and I like to put pride into the work I put out,\u201d Petetan-Benitez said. \u201cKnowing that I am part of that process to help the patient get better and get a good diagnostic reading is a very good feeling for me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Petetan-Benitez said she is grateful for the scholarship support she has received during her undergraduate career. She is the 2018-2019 recipient of the Drs.
