Personal Statement

I have worked with children from birth through adolescence with a variety of communication disorders in the school and home settings for almost 20 years. My primary interests are autism, augmentative and alternative communication, and Hispanic populations. In 2018 I joined the Division of Speech and Hearing Sciences and began coordinating the clinical placements for the MS program as well as teaching. My clinical experiences in naturalistic settings paired with my contract management skills allow me to help prepare master’s level students for a successful career in speech-language pathology. I am excited to be a new member of a research team comparing social skills programs for adolescents with autism. This project aligns with my commitment to serving members of the NC community who benefit from robust communication support.
