Understanding Tinnitus Management\nThe CDC estimates that nearly 50 million Americans experience some form of tinnitus\, or ringing in the ears (ata.org). Tinnitus is often likened to a candle in a room: when it’s bright you hardly notice it’s there\, but when it’s dark the candle is quite noticeable. There are hundreds of proposed treatment and management strategies for tinnitus: many of which have little scientific evidence backing their efficacy. \n  \nIn April’s 30-minute webinar\, we will explore the theorized etiologies of tinnitus and current evidence-based management strategies. DESCRIPTION:Every quarter\, the UNC Hearing and Communication Center invites a different hearing aid manufacturer to showcase new technology during our Listening Lab event. Active patients who are considering upgrading their technology OR looking to get hearing aids for the first time are encouraged to reserve an appointment. This FREE one hour demonstration includes the fitting of a hearing aid using best-practice techniques\, counseling and the opportunity to experience hearing technology in-office. Exploration of additional accessories and streaming may also be included. \nWhile the Listening Lab in no way replaces a standard Functional Communication Assessment\, the consultation that guides the treatment selection process\, it can be a good starting point for patients who need a little more information before moving forward. \nREQUIREMENTS:\n\n\nmust be an active patient at the UNC HCC\n\n\nmust have an up-to-date audiogram (hearing test) from the last 12 months\n\n\n  \nAppointments are limited!
