A screening is intended for community members who do not already have diagnosed hearing loss and do not wear hearing aids. The audiologist will examine ears for ear wax and provide appropriate recommendations. Over-the-counter hearing aids were recently approved by the FDA for treating perceived mild to moderate hearing loss in adults. While the addition of OTC devices is an overall positive one for the hearing aid industry\, it may add to confusion about where and how to begin a hearing journey.
