SUMMARY:Free Hearing Screenings at Galloway Ridge
DESCRIPTION:Concerned about your hearing? Take the first step with the UNC Hearing and Communication Center. This free hearing screening is quick pass/fail test to see if hearing loss is present. A screening is intended for community members who do not already have diagnosed hearing loss and do not wear hearing aids. The audiologist will examine ears for ear wax and provide appropriate recommendations. Wax cannot be removed as part of a free hearing screening.  \nContact Sonia Grogan at Galloway Ridge to secure your hearing screening appointment: sgrogan@gallowayridge.com. This screening is ONLY available for Galloway Ridge residents. \n\n*NOTE: if you are currently a patient at the UNC Hearing and Communication Center and are in need of assessment or services\, please schedule an office visit at: 919-445-6744.

SUMMARY:Galloway Ridge Presentation: Strategies for Improving Hearing and Communication
DESCRIPTION:While hearing technology has seen amazing advances in the last decade\, no device can fully address all auditory challenges. A comprehensive aural rehabilitation plan should include communication strategies\, the process of modifying one’s behavior\, environment and speaking style to improve communication. Becoming a better advocate for good communication has shown to greatly improve satisfaction with hearing devices and reduce overall frustration. This engaging presentation will offer practical advice for individuals with hearing loss and their communication partners. \nThis presentation is exclusively for residents of the Galloway Ridge community and will be presented through the closed-loop television channel. It will also be recorded for future viewing.
