She received a cochlear implant (CI) in Spring of 2009 and now enjoys bimodal hearing (CI on one ear and hearing aid on the other).<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Sjoblad has been a faculty member of the UNC-Chapel Hill Division of Speech and Hearing Sciences since August 1999 and holds the roles of Professor and Clinic Director. Her primary responsibilities consist of directing the operations of the UNC Hearing and Communication Center clinic, providing direct clinical services while supervising graduate students in audiology and teaching graduate courses.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Sjoblad is Board Certified with the American Board of Audiology (ABA) and is a fellow in the American Academy of Audiology (AAA). She is a licensed audiologist in the state of North Carolina.\u00a0 Dr. Sjoblad has had a lifelong passion to promote more affordable and accessible hearing care to those with hearing loss. She is presently serving on a committee at the\u00a0National Academies of Science Engineering and Medicine in DC investigating the\u00a0<em>Use of Selected Assistive Products and Technologies in Eliminating or Reducing the Effects of Impairments.\u00a0<\/em> Her community involvement at the local level includes eleven years of service on the Board of Directors for Beginnings for Parents of Children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, Inc. and six years of service on the Board for the American Academy of Audiology \u2013 North Carolina.
