CSDCAS is an application service that simplifies the process of applying to communication science programs. CSDCAS will verify your application for accuracy, calculate your GPA, and send your application to multiple communication science programs as you direct. <strong>Applications open Friday, August 15, 2025.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Every completed application is reviewed in its entirety by at least two faculty members of the Admissions Committee. After the initial review of applications, an invitation to interview is extended to approximately 40 applicants, usually by mid-February. \u00a0A Zoom interview is required for admission. The interviews will allow applicants to meet with most of the faculty, and speak informally with current students.<\/p>\n<h3>Application Deadlines<\/h3>\n<p>Applying for admission is a two-step process with applications\u00a0submitted\u00a0in two different systems.<\/p>\n<p><b><div class = \"alert alert-warning  oscitas-bootstrap-container\">Deadline #1:\u00a0<\/b><b>January 20, 2026 <\/b><b>&#8211; CSDCAS Application<\/div><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b><div class = \"alert alert-warning  oscitas-bootstrap-container\">Deadline #2: January 26, 2026 &#8211; UNC Supplemental Application Deadline<\/div><\/b><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: inherit;font-size: 24px\">Application Instructions<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Carefully read through all of the instructions before you begin each application.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><div role=\"tablist\" class=\"panel-group yourcustomclass oscitas-bootstrap-container\" id=\"unc-accordion-0\">\n\n<div class=\"panel panel-default oscitas-bootstrap-container\">\n\n    <div id=\"panel-heading-details-0-0\" class=\"panel-heading oscitas-bootstrap-container\" role=\"tab\">\n\n        <h4 class=\"panel-title oscitas-bootstrap-container\">\n\n            <button class=\"accordion-toggle oscitas-bootstrap-container collapsed\" \n                id = \"button-details-0-0\"\n                data-toggle=\"collapse\"\n                data-parent=\"#unc-accordion-0\"    \n                aria-controls=\"#details-0-0\"  \n                aria-expanded=\"false\" \n                href=\"#details-0-0\">\n                CSDCAS Application Instructions            <\/button>\n\n        <\/h4>\n\n    <\/div>\n\n    <div id=\"details-0-0\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse  oscitas-bootstrap-container\">\n\n        <div class=\"panel-body oscitas-bootstrap-container\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><b>Online CSDCAS applications need to be complete by the deadline \u2013 January 20, 2026.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"TextRun SCXW155341820\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW155341820\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/csdcas.liaisoncas.com\/applicant-ux\/#\/login\">CSDCAS Application<\/a> opens August 15, 2025<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW155341820\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW155341820\">. Please read over all <\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW155341820\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW155341820\">application instructions and other <a href=\"https:\/\/www.csdcas.org\/preparing-your-csdcas-application\/\">CSDCAS FAQ&#8217;s<\/a> before beginning.<\/span><\/span><span class=\"EOP SCXW155341820\">\u00a0Students are responsible for checking the status of their application and making sure that ALL materials are received and verified on time.\u00a0Your application must be considered COMPLETE and VERIFIED by the deadline.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Transcripts<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><strong>Verifying transcripts can take up to 4 weeks.\u00a0Please keep this in mind when requesting and submitting transcripts. Many universities are closed during the winter break, so plan ahead and submit your transcripts in advance so that you give CSDCAS ample time for verification.\u00a0Do not wait for fall grades to send official transcripts to CSDCAS.\u00a0You will have an opportunity to update your coursework in CSDCAS after your application has been submitted.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Remember: You must request transcripts from EVERY institution that you list in the Colleges Attended section of your application.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Use the transcript request form to have all official transcripts sent to CSDCAS. You must first list your schools in the \u201cColleges and Universities Attended\u201d section of your CSDCAS application before requesting any transcripts. You should then print the CSDCAS Official Transcript Request Form (the blue button found under each school listed) and send that to your registrar\u2019s office to include with your transcript when it is mailed to CSDCAS.<\/p>\n<p>Please direct the Office of Registrars to send your transcripts to the following address:<\/p>\n<p><b>CSDCAS Verification Department<\/b><br \/>\n<b>P.O. Box 9113<\/b><br \/>\n<b>Watertown, MA, 02471<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>(All official transcripts MUST be sent to the CSDCAS address above.)<\/b><\/p>\n<p>If your school only accepts online transcript requests, please include the word \u201cCSDCAS\u201d and your CSDCAS ID NUMBER in the address you wish to have the transcript sent to.<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Test Scores &#8211; GRE and TOEFL<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>We will accept remotely proctored GRE examination offered by ETS. \u00a0UNC-Chapel Hill&#8217;s GRE code is 0083. Be sure to look for the Institution Name \u00a0&#8220;U N Carolina Sch Medicine CSDCAS&#8221; located under &#8220;School of medicine-UNC&#8221;. The 0083 code will automatically send test scores to both your CSDCAS application AND your UNC Supplemental Application.<\/p>\n<p>if you are submitting TOEFL test scores, please use the code 5816.<\/p>\n<p><em>It is the applicant&#8217;s responsibility to allow time for ETS to score and send test results to CSDCAS in advance of the deadline.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Letters of Recommendation<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>Choose three people to write your letters of recommendation who can best attest to your academic or clinical potential. It is important to identify references who know you well and are able to speak with detailed examples to the personal qualities that make you unique.<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Essay Questions<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>In lieu of a personal statement, we ask applicants to respond to several questions. Each response should be 1-3 paragraphs in length, no more than 300 words (2000 characters).<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Important Details<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>Within your application, be\u00a0sure to complete all applicable parts of the supporting information section. This section serves as your resume.<\/p>\n<p>All application fees must be paid to CSDCAS (Estimated: $139 for the first school, $56 for each additional school).<\/p>\n<p>Also, note that you can submit your application BEFORE your transcripts, recommendation letters, and official GRE scores are posted to your account.<\/p>\n<p>Once your application is e-submitted, your application is\u00a0locked\u00a0and most sections cannot be updated for the remainder of the application cycle. Please make sure\u00a0all of\u00a0your information is accurate. This process can take up to 48 hours.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong> If you have not received this email by January 21, please call Student Services at 919-966-2343. Don\u2019t forget to check your spam and junk mail folders first.<\/p>\n<p>You\u00a0<strong>ONLY\u00a0<\/strong>need<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>to complete the following in your supplemental application:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>List institutions you have attended.<\/li>\n<li>Answer all questions.<\/li>\n<li>Pay supplemental fee of $95.00 (Visa, Mastercard, check or money order). Waiver of the supplemental fee may be available in some cases.\u00a0 Contact <a href=\"mailto:Kayla_Rankin@med.un.edu\">Kayla_Rankin@med.unc.edu<\/a> for more information.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>*Your application is not considered to be complete until payment has been received.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The email with your\u00a0supplemental\u00a0application link will\u00a0explain\u00a0in detail the specific sections you need to complete as most of your information in CSDCAS will transfer over to this application system.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n    <\/div>\n        \n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h3>Additional Information<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Apply early.\u00a0Submitting your materials early helps ensure timely processing and avoids costly delays.<\/li>\n<li>Create a personal email account (gmail, yahoo, etc.) that includes some part of your name.<\/li>\n<li>Gather unofficial transcripts from EVERY institution that you have taken coursework from (even if only one course was taken there). This includes study abroad transcripts. This will also aid you in filling out the coursework portion of the CSDCAS application.<\/li>\n<li>Do not wait for fall grades to send official transcripts to CSDCAS as we would like your application to be complete on the January 20 deadline. Verifying transcripts can take up to four weeks. You will have an opportunity to update your coursework in CSDCAS after your fall transcript is available.<\/li>\n<li>The CSDCAS DEADLINE of January 20, 2026 applies to the submission of your CSDCAS application, payment of the CSDCAS fee, (Estimated: $139 for the first school and $56 for each additional school) and receipt and verification of all transcripts by CSDCAS. CSDCAS will continue to verify transcripts after the deadline date, but if there are any issues with your transcripts this could hold up the process. Only verified applications can be reviewed by the Admissions Committee. Again, <u>please submit your transcripts as early as possible to allow up to 4 weeks for the verification process<\/u>.<\/li>\n<li>The UNC SUPPLEMENTAL DEADLINE \u2013 January 26, 2026. Soon after the CSDCAS deadline, an email will be sent inviting you to complete the UNC Supplemental Application (there is a Supplemental Application fee). You should receive this email no later than January 21, 2026. If you have not received your email by this time, please contact kayla_rankin@med.unc.edu. Don\u2019t forget to check your SPAM and\/or Junkmail first. When completing your UNC Supplemental Application, you do NOT<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>need to resend documents that have already been submitted in CSDCAS, except for updated copies of your transcripts.
