She\u00a0is a graduate student in the\u00a0SLP\u00a0program at\u00a0UNC-Chapel\u00a0Hill who is an active member of the American Academy of Audiology, American Auditory Society, and NCSHLA. She is currently working as a research assistant in the UNC Cochlear Implant Clinical Research Lab and provides community services through several opportunities including the Walk for Hearing and the Healthy Hearing Special Olympics. She has already presented some of her research at the NCSHLA Fall Conference and continues to strive towards her goal of becoming a clinical researcher in the field of audiology.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Amanda Coats received the Student Achievement Award. She is a graduate student\u00a0of\u00a0speech-language pathology at\u00a0UNC-Chapel\u00a0Hill. She has had extensive internship experiences around North Carolina including Duke Regional Hospital, UNC Hospitals, and Morris Grove Elementary School. While maintaining strong academic credentials, she has given back to the community through activities with The Charles House Elder Center, Camp Royal, and the Carolina for the Kids Foundation.
