Four Doctor of Audiology (AuD) students in the Division of Speech and Hearing Sciences received the award for best poster at the national 2020 Early Hearing Detection and Intervention<\/a> (EHDI) conference in Kansas City, Missouri, held in early March.<\/p>\n

The ongoing project, which is focused on improving hearing screening in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), is a collaboration between the North Carolina Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND) program and the North Carolina EHDI program in the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) Division of Public Health.<\/p>\n

With mentoring provided by Jackson Roush and Marcia Fort, the audiology students leading the project are (L-R) Katie Sobon, Stephanie Ortega, Shannon Muzio, and Jane Khin.<\/p>\n

Jackson Roush, PhD, is a professor in the Division of Speech and Hearing Sciences and section head for audiology at the Carolina Institute for Developmental Disabilities. Marcia Fort, AuD, is the unit manager for genetics and newborn screening in the NCDHHS Division of Public Health.<\/em><\/p>\n
