The applications for the 2026-27 academic year will open on <strong>April 15, 2026<\/strong>, and will close on <strong>June 1 at 11:59 p.m. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This year only students in the Divisions of Clinical Laboratory Science, Neurodiagnostics and Sleep Science, and Radiologic Science may apply for the Thorpe\/Mitchell award.<\/p>\n<p>Only students who have been officially admitted to a program in the Department of Health Sciences may complete the online application.<\/p>\n<div role=\"tablist\" class=\"panel-group yourcustomclass oscitas-bootstrap-container\" id=\"unc-accordion-0\">\n\n<div class=\"panel panel-default oscitas-bootstrap-container\">\n\n    <div id=\"panel-heading-details-0-0\" class=\"panel-heading oscitas-bootstrap-container\" role=\"tab\">\n\n        <h2 class=\"panel-title oscitas-bootstrap-container\">\n\n            <button class=\"accordion-toggle oscitas-bootstrap-container collapsed\" \n                id = \"button-details-0-0\"\n                data-toggle=\"collapse\"\n                data-parent=\"#unc-accordion-0\"    \n                aria-controls=\"#details-0-0\"  \n                aria-expanded=\"false\" \n                href=\"#details-0-0\">\n                Step 1: Prepare Required Documents            <\/button>\n\n        <\/h2>\n\n    <\/div>\n\n    <div id=\"details-0-0\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse  oscitas-bootstrap-container\">\n\n        <div class=\"panel-body oscitas-bootstrap-container\">\n<p>Have these documents already collected and prepared can save you time as you will need to upload copies of some of these to the online application.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Complete the <a href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/h\/apply-for-aid\/fafsa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2026-27 FAFSA<\/a> using code 002974 if your scholarship requires it. We recommend that all students do it. You can use estimates to complete your FAFSA if you have not completed your taxes.<\/li>\n<li>Total Student Loan Debt\/Pell Recipient (Can be found at <a href=\"https:\/\/nsldsfap.ed.gov\/login\">NSLDS: National Student Loan Data System<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Update your resume and save a copy as a PDF or Word document.<\/li>\n<li>Request a recommendation letter if the scholarship you are applying for requires it.\n<ul>\n<li>Thorpe\/Mitchell requires a letter of recommendation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Prepare your written statement(s) ahead of time.\n<ul>\n<li>Thorpe-Mitchell &#8211; a supplemental essay telling us about you, your history, and your professional goals after completing your degree, along with the name, title and email address of a faculty member who can speak to your academic experience, potential for leadership, and interest in giving back.<\/li>\n<li>CRMH applicants:\n<ul>\n<li>How has your experience to date prepared you for a career in Clinical Mental Health Counseling\/Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling? What do you hope to do with your degree?<\/li>\n<li>What would getting this scholarship mean to you?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>NDSS applicants:\n<ul>\n<li>Please provide statement of 200 words or less describing your career aspirations<\/li>\n<li>What are your clinical-related extracurricular or volunteer activities? Please bookmark the scholarship application.
