The DAHS Office of Research held its November Research Forum on Wednesday, November 29, 2017, where faculty announced the new SIRG program.<\/p>\n<\/header>\n

On Wednesday, November 29, 2017, the Department of Allied Health Sciences Office of Research held its November installment of the fall research forums, where researchers and faculty unveiled the Sleep Innovation Research Grant (SIRG) program.<\/p>\n

The SIRG program will provide funding to conduct innovative sleep science research in the clinical or translational sciences. The program will award three grants per year, starting in 2018 and continuing for three years, with each grant awarding up to $10,000.<\/p>\n

Director of the Neurodiagnostics and Sleep Science program Mary Ellen Wells, PhD; Vice Chair of the Department of Neurology Bradley Vaughn, MD; and other sleep experts from UNC spoke at the forum. Dr. Wells shared helpful tips with attendees on the many resources available within the Department and broader University to conduct sleep research, as the program encourages both novice and experienced sleep researchers to apply.<\/p>\n
