Three PhD students in the Department of Allied Health Sciences (DAHS) have received the 2019-2020 student research ambassador award from the department\u2019s Office of Research and Scholarship.<\/p>\n
Poster presentation: \u201cExploring considerations for early intervention services for children at-risk for ASD.\u201d Presented in February 2020 at the Conference on Research Innovations in Early Intervention in San Diego.<\/p>\n
Poster presentation \u201cThe language profiles of toddlers at elevated likelihood for autism.\u201d Presented in February 2020 at the Conference on Research Innovations in Early Intervention in San Diego.<\/p>\n
Platform presentation: \u201cBilateral comparisons and associations between quadriceps strength, voluntary activation, and neural excitability with knee osteoarthritis.\u201dPresented in February 2020 at the American Physical Therapy Association\u2019s Combined Sections Meeting in Denver.<\/p>\n
The award recognizes PhD students who showcase outstanding research in the larger academic and professional community. The awardees participated at high-visibility research conferences through presentation of research posters or oral papers. The review committee for the awards is comprised of five DAHS faculty members who represent various disciplines.<\/p>\n
\u201cConsidering the transition to virtual formats that has become the norm for academic conferences over the last few months, and will likely remain so into the foreseeable future, it is important that our students continue to participate and present, albeit remotely,\u201d said John Grose, PhD, the department\u2019s associate chair for research.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe connections that students from the three PhD programs form while working on their research with mentors and colleagues, both within and outside the department, have proven to be invaluable to their success.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Office of Research and Scholarship is housed in the Department of Allied Health Sciences, where Stephen Hooper, PhD, is associate dean and chair.<\/p>\n
