{"id":3547,"date":"2018-07-29T13:42:31","date_gmt":"2018-07-29T17:42:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/healthsciences\/?p=3547"},"modified":"2018-10-08T13:44:05","modified_gmt":"2018-10-08T17:44:05","slug":"ascls-recognizes-susan-beck-tara-moon-lisa-cremeans-and-sophia-chen-at-annual-meeting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/healthsciences\/2018\/07\/ascls-recognizes-susan-beck-tara-moon-lisa-cremeans-and-sophia-chen-at-annual-meeting\/","title":{"rendered":"ASCLS Recognizes Susan Beck, Tara Moon, Lisa Cremeans, and Sophia Chen at Annual Meeting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science (ASCLS) recognized a host of faculty members and a program alumna during its 86<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0annual meeting in Chicago this summer.<\/p>\n<p>During the annual awards ceremony, ASCLS recognized Division Director Susan Beck and Associate Professor Tara Moon, both of whom are PhD, MLS(ASCP)<sup>CM<\/sup>with a CLS Distinguished Author Award for the manuscript\u00a0<em>An Algorithm for Curriculum Decisions in Medical Laboratory Science Education<\/em>. The journal\u00a0<em>Clinical Laboratory Science<\/em>\u00a0published the article in April 2017. Additionally, Assistant Professor Lisa Cremeans, MMDS, MLS(ASCP)<sup>CM<\/sup>, SM<sup>CM<\/sup>, MB<sup>CM<\/sup>, was recognized as the Constituent Society Member of the Year for North Carolina.<\/p>\n<p>The ASCLS also recognized 2016 graduate Sophia Chen, MLS(ASCP)<sup>CM<\/sup>, who began her term as president of the North Carolina Society for Clinical Laboratory Science (NCSCLS) in June 2018. She led a delegation of members representing NCSCLS at the annual meeting. At conclusion of the meeting, she spoke during the House of Delegates session inviting members to attend the 87<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0Annual Meeting scheduled for June 2019 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
