SUMMARY:POSTPONED Workshop: Maximizing Spectral Flexibility with the Leica Stellaris confocal
DESCRIPTION:POSTPONED to late March (updated 1/27/25) \n  \nJoin Wendy Salmon (HIC) and experts from Leica to learn how to optimize wavelength selections\, separate fluorophore signal from autofluorescence\, and image 7-15 fluorophores in the same sample. Leica will have a sample of beads with 15 different spectra and some standard tissue slide. Please let us know if you’d like sample preparation information for your own samples!  This will be a combination of seminars\, demonstrations on the Leica Stellaris 8 in the HIC\, and appointments with Leica experts for one-on-one assistance with image collection or data handling. Links for online signup coming soon (1/7/2025).

SUMMARY:Demo: Zeiss LSM 980 with spectral imaging\, Airyscan2 and NIR
DESCRIPTION:If you would like a one-on-one session on the Zeiss 980\, please complete Zeiss’s quick sample survey and Garrick Koermer from Zeiss will be in touch to get you on the calendar. \nSarah Cohen and Wendy Salmon (HIC) are putting together an S10 shared instrumentation grant to upgrade our Zeiss LSM 880 Spectral Imaging system. We need to test how the live spectral imaging and Airyscan2 compare to our current system. If you currently use\, or are thinking of using\, either of those tools\, please let Wendy know ASAP so we can prepare for a successful demo. Also reach out if you want some one-on-one assistance from the Zeiss experts regardless of your participation in the grant. Instrument has incubation enclosure for live imaging experiments.

SUMMARY:Workshop--Single Molecule Localization Microscopy and TIRF
DESCRIPTION:Test out the Abbelight SMLM and TIRF system\nTaylor Hall 229\nCo-hosted by Jenn Marks with Evident Scientific (formerly Olympus). \nSee the system working with one of the demo slides or test your own sample. \nSign up for a time slot with the 👉 Doodle Sign-Up Sheet \nFor maximal success with your samples\, contact Paul Barthélémy as soon as possible to ensure you have the optimal sample holders and fluorophores (pdf). We have a small amount of secondary antibodies with appropriate fluorophores available on-site for sample preparation prior to your imaging session. \nWatch the UNC Sample Prep Webinar from Oct. 9\, 2025. \nPractical notes:\n1: SMLM will not work with your standard confocal sample of a coverslip mounted on a slide with mounting media using whichever fluorophores you have in your freezer. The preparation is very similar to your confocal protocol\, but there are a few extremely critical details that might differ. You will likely need to generate a specific sample for the demo.\n2: Fluorophores needed for SMLM also work great for standard fluorescence applications\, so anything you might need to buy for a successful demo can likely be used for other applications. \nPDF product brochure
