Ryan Lupo is a fourth-year medical student from Nesconset, New York who is pursuing general surgery. He became interested in quality improvement during his third year clinical rotations, when he worked to improve COVID-19 vaccination rates for Hispanic patients at a clinical site in rural North Carolina. Currently, Ryan is working with Dr. Trista Reid on a project to increase the utilization of palliative care services and increase the percentage of patients who have Advanced Care Plans in the Surgical ICU at UNC.
