Dr. Sarah Smithson is Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine and the Assistant Dean for Clinical Education in the School of Medicine. Dr. Smithson also led Project UPLIPHT (Uniting Partners in Primary Care and Psychiatry to Lead Improvement in Psychiatric Health Treatment), a collaborative care program that aims to improve symptoms of clinical depression in adult primary care patients in outpatient primary care settings. She is engaged in quality improvement work related to depression management, diabetes care and improving care for complex patients in the Internal Medicine Clinic. Additionally, Dr. Smithson launched the Relational Leadership Institute at UNC.
