QI leaders challenge the status quo in pursuit of better outcomes, ask thoughtful questions, and create the conditions for teams to learn, adapt, and succeed.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Curiosity, identifying problems, asking why, and challenging existing processes to uncover opportunities for improvement.<\/li>\n<li>Connection and influence, building trust, inspiring collaboration, and motivating others toward shared goals.<\/li>\n<li>Team engagement, developing teams where every member contributes as both a learner and a leader.<\/li>\n<li>Systems thinking, seeing the big picture and understanding how individual improvement efforts connect to organizational priorities.<\/li>\n<li>Self awareness, recognizing your strengths, your communication style, and your areas for growth so you can lead with authenticity and empathy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There are many tools and programs that support self-awareness and personal leadership development. At UNC <strong data-start=\"1424\" data-end=\"1473\">Learning and Organizational Development (LOD)<\/strong> offers assessments such as <strong data-start=\"1501\" data-end=\"1521\">CliftonStrengths<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"1526\" data-end=\"1534\">DiSC<\/strong>, while <strong data-start=\"1542\" data-end=\"1570\">Operational Efficiency (OE)<\/strong>\u00a0incorporates the <strong data-start=\"1588\" data-end=\"1596\">HBDI<\/strong> (Herrmann Brain Dominance Instrument) into its training programs. These tools can help individuals and teams better understand their thinking preferences, working styles, and collective strengths.<\/p>\n<p>Fostering productive teamwork is also central to leading QI. Concepts such as a <strong data-start=\"1877\" data-end=\"1893\">Just Culture<\/strong> promote psychological safety, fairness, and learning rather than blame. Frameworks like <strong data-start=\"1982\" data-end=\"1996\">TeamSTEPPS<\/strong>, an evidence-based teamwork system for healthcare, strengthen communication and collaboration within
