When forming your team, it is important to think carefully about who is directly involved in the process, who holds subject matter expertise, and who can support system-level sustainability. While inclusivity is encouraged, it is also important to consider bandwidth and involve team members whose roles are most relevant to the project\u2019s goals to ensure engagement and effective use of time.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Project teams often operate across three levels. The <strong>core team<\/strong> drives the daily work of the project and typically includes three to five key members. The <strong>extended team<\/strong> offers specialized input\u2014such as subject matter experts or data support\u2014at specific points and often directly impacted by the change. The <strong>leadership or sponsoring team<\/strong> provides strategic guidance, resources, and helps remove barriers. Defining these levels ensures clarity and the right involvement throughout the project. It is also important to note that each team is unique and does not necessarily have to follow the same configuration.<\/p>\n<h2>Key Steps<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Review the process that you are trying to improve so that you can understand who is involved. A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/ihqi\/resources\/process-mapping\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">process map<\/a> is a great tool to use for this step.<\/li>\n<li>Develop a list of key stakeholder groups who are directly involved in or impacted by the process (i.e. physicians, nurses, patients and families, data analyst, etc.).<\/li>\n<li>Consider recruiting a representative from each stakeholder group. It is important to have team members from diverse roles who bring valuable perspectives and expertise.
