Highlighting faculty who have participated in the ACCLAIM and/or Simmons Scholars Programs.

The Academic Career Leadership Academy in Medicine (ACCLAIM), developed by Drs. Amelia Drake and Paul Godley in collaboration with the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, is a cross-disciplinary leadership program for faculty. The program aims to address concerns that leadership development opportunities for female and under-represented minority (URM) faculty have been previously limited.

The Simmons Scholars Program (SSP) has been built upon the abundant evidence that the research, clinical, and educational enterprise of the School of Medicine (SOM) will receive a direct and substantial benefit if there is broad diversity among its staff, students, and faculty. This Program was established in 1994 by then Dean Michael Simmons and aims to meet the UNC School of Medicine’s goals of a diverse workforce and enhanced care for the diverse set of patients it serves.
