UNC Rural Medicine Summer Academy

UNC Rural Medicine Summer Academy (RMSA) is a partnership program between the UNC Department of Family Medicine and the UNC School of Medicine Office of Rural Initiatives to bring rising seniors to Chapel Hill for a 5-day experience where they will be introduced to a career in medicine.

RMSA is designed to offer a hands on immersive experience that will allow students to explore avenues such as medical simulation, mentorship opportunities, CPR certifications, shadowing, and leadership workshops among many others.

Selected students will be provided housing on the campus of UNC Chapel Hill.  The session for Summer 2024 is June 23rd – 28th and the link for the application can be found HERE. The deadline for applications is 11:59 pm on 4/1/2024.  Program participant selection will take place shortly after the application deadline has closed.

Through grant support and donations, participation for the 2024 RMSA is FREE for accepted students. Healthcare systems, businesses, and private entities may sponsor a student to participate in RMSA. For more information about this opportunity, please send an email to: fncrawf@email.unc.edu.
