Dear Colleagues,

E. Nathan Thomas III, PhD
Vice Dean for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

You took time earlier this year to share your thoughts and feedback through the DEI Climate Survey. Thank you for helping us. Your time is valuable and the information you shared with us is important.

Similar to previous DEI surveys, the 2022 DEI Climate Survey highlights key findings related to overall DEI satisfaction; the way people are treated in their work and learning environments; organizational efforts to diversify our faculty, staff, and learner groups; the importance of DEI education, and how people perceive their sense of belonging. The information you provided us in the survey will help us support your efforts to improve the work and learning environment in the School of Medicine.

Our DEI Climate Survey team will share the survey findings with different stakeholder groups across the School of Medicine in the coming weeks, including senior leadership, staff, faculty, students, clinical trainees, and postdocs. As you get information about these sessions, we encourage you to attend any that interest you. Our team will then share department-level reports with each department and will work with department leaders to enhance departmental inclusive excellence plans and DEI action steps.

Thank you again for the time you took to complete the survey and for sharing your thoughts. We all are feeling the effects of the great resignation, the pandemic, and the stress of day to day difficult news. It has never been more important for us to understand how our teammates feel and what we can improve.

We are creating a workplace and learning environment where everyone can feel welcomed, valued, and where voices are heard. Your input is getting us even closer to our goals.

Sincerely,

Nate
