Nominations are currently being accepted for the 2023 Medical Staff Physician Excellence Committee (MSPEC) Awards. Any member of the University of North Carolina Hospitals active medical staff, including UNC School of Medicine clinical faculty, is eligible for nomination.
This open-rank award recognizes a UNC clinical physician who most embodies aspects of a truly great patient service provider, including technical skill, humanism to patients and families, collaboration with colleagues and advocacy.
Nominees will be reviewed by the MSPEC. The award will be granted to an individual provider based on both the strength/number of nominations, as well as the physician’s performance with respects to quality care metrics, and announced at the start of the 2024 fiscal year.
Nominations may be made by UNC Health Care employees and by members of the medical staff and house staff, and should be submitted to Amber.Ellixson@unchealth.unc.edu.
Criteria adopted by the MSPEC state that nominees should be selected on the basis of the following attributes:
- Unwavering personal commitment to treating patients with compassion and respect
- Ongoing service as a staunch advocate for maintaining clinical excellence including the highest standards of patient safety, satisfaction and wellbeing both physical and emotional
- Effectiveness as a professional role model for the students and young physicians responsible for the care of future generations
- Sense of civic responsibility through active participation in groups or organizations concerned with the health and well-being of North Carolina’s citizens
UNC MEDICAL STAFF PHYSICIAN EXCELLENCE BEST CONSULTING PROVIDER AWARD
This open rank award is granted to a full-time active medical staff, including UNC School of Medicine clinical faculty, nominated by his/her peers in recognition of their consistent outstanding consulting service for patients within the UNC Health System.
Nominees will be reviewed by the MSPEC, and the award will be granted to an individual provider based on both the strength/number of nominations, as well as the physician’s performance with respects to quality care metrics.
UNC MEDICAL STAFF PHYSICIAN EXCELLENCE BEST CLINICIAN OF THE YEAR AWARD
This open-rank award is given to a UNC active medical staff, including UNC School of Medicine clinical faculty, who most embodies those aspects of a truly great patient service provider, including technical skill, humanism to patients and families, collaboration with colleagues and advocacy.
