The UNC School of Medicine will implement two cost monitoring processes that were effective during the pandemic. A labor review committee (LRC) and a major campus unit (MCU) expense approval process will be in place at the beginning of April and will focus on FY26 cost savings. 

The LRC will focus on evaluating new unbudgeted positions proposed for the SOM, and the MCU expense approval process will evaluate expenses such as renovations, events, and business entertainment.  

SOM Finance and Human Resources teammates will contact unit leaders throughout March to discuss details and streamline processes.
