Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to announce that Jana Ross will assume the position of Interim Associate Dean for Human Resources, effective July 1.
Jana’s background and leadership in the School of Medicine are well established. She began her UNC career in 2010 as an HR Consultant in the Department of Surgery, later progressing to Manager of Professional Affairs with a focus on faculty affairs. Jana then joined the SOM Dean’s Office as EHRA Personnel Manager, where she oversaw all EHRA personnel matters, and subsequently advanced to Associate Director. Most recently, since 2023, she has served as Director for SOM HR, providing strategic guidance across all HR functions. With her comprehensive expertise in faculty and EHRA personnel processes, along with her collaborative style and commitment to service, Jana will ensure continuity and strong support for our departments and units during this transition.
We also wish to express our sincere gratitude to Harvey Lineberry for his exceptional leadership and dedicated service as Associate Dean for HR. Harvey’s contributions have made a lasting impact on our HR operations and the School of Medicine community. We thank him for his many years of commitment and congratulate him on his retirement.
Looking ahead, there will be opportunities for everyone to share their perspectives and participate as we begin the process of recruiting a permanent Associate Dean.
