The What to Fix (WTF) initiative exists to identify, prioritize, and address faculty and staff-driven opportunities for improvement in the UNC School of Medicine (SOM). This initiative exists because you’ve said “there has to be a better way”. Because recurring issues deserve focused attention. Because change happens faster when people who live the work help shape the fix. Through structured engagement, transparent communication, and coordinated action, the WTF subcommittee will strengthen SOM’s culture, policies, and practices to better support staff and faculty’s well-being, inclusion, recognition, and professional fulfillment.

What to Fix is a way to share the employee and staff experience on a perpetual basis. The scope of WTF is the academic mission and the initiative works in conjunction with the UNC Health GROSS Program, which embraces clinical operations and incorporates additional data reflective of the teammate experience.
